Exercises Reducing Hip Pain and Stiffness

by Wendy Schauer on November 12, 2012

One of the hardest parts of my job is telling someone I can’t help them and they need to see the surgeon. For some reason I get numerous patients with hip pain and luckily only a small percentage get sent to the surgeon. I want to help people before the hip joint wears out. This video blog is for those who are starting to get hip soreness and tightness.

As the hip joint starts to wear and tear, the joint capsule gets more fibrotic and stiff. It loses flexibility and the joint begins to lock up. The yoga pose Pigeon Pose is great for getting mobility back into the joint. I recommend doing this stretch 1-3 minutes a day, every day. Make sure you do each side to keep yourself balanced.

With Passion & Conviction,

Wendy

Wendy,

thank you for the demonstration. Much needed information. My hips pain caused my not to be able to run anymore.

It looks like close to impossible to do the split. Let me try…

I am back. I managed to do it. Feeling good. Promise to be consistent. :)
